Zen and Money Retreat Day – with Mark Kuren Westmoquette
With Senior Teacher Mark Kuren Westmoquette | Available to Join In-Person & Online
Join Mark on this afternoon retreat designed to bring light, clarity and compassion to one of the most fraught and sticky areas of modern life: our financial world. Drawing on the practices offered on his 3-day retreat in July, Mark will guide you through an afternoon of transformative exploration of the dharma of money.
Many of us can find a sense of quiet ease on the cushion, yet feel an immediate tightening in the chest at the thought of bills, spending, savings, debts or investments. So many of us carry unexamined conditioning and deep suffering around money. But since it’s such a taboo topic in our culture, confronting and dealing with our “stuff” is particularly difficult. Yet, when met with conscious awareness and compassion, our relationship with money can becomes a powerful crucible for spiritual awakening.
On this retreat, we will dive beneath the surface of our financial habits to illuminate the hidden layers within – exploring how the three poisons of greed, aversion and delusion shape our views on security and self-worth. Drawing on traditional Buddhist teachings, reflective inquiries and practical exercises, you will gain insights into the subconscious patterns driving your financial choices, and learn wiser way of being with money.
This retreat day is suitable for all, from beginners to those with an established sitting practice.
The session will run from 1pm to 7:30pm, and will run into and include the usual Sunday zazen session from 6-7:30pm.
