Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Daizan teaching

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a very important aspect of every profession, and is a requirement for you to maintain your certification with Zenways.

As such, Zenways runs a CPD programme for Zenways qualified yoga and meditation/mindfulness teachers consisting of regular workshops, courses and retreats. Please note that you do not have to take your CPD training with Zenways – we encourage you to get as many different ideas as you can from different places!

For upcoming Zenways-organised events see below. Some events are led by Daizan, others by expert outside teachers.

After you first qualify you have a grace period from the time of your residential course to the next April, and one more year following that, in which you do not need to do any CPD training. For example, if your course was in January, then you would have until April the following year (i.e. 15 months). Following this, you will need to join Zenways as a teaching member at a cost of £69/year. This provides you free access to all Zenways CPD workshops, and covers all the administration and certificate renewal. Your certificate will be valid for 1 year.

As it says above, you don’t have to do your CPD training with Zenways – it can be with any suitably qualified teacher.

Each year you will need to submit a completed CPD record form to Mila at mila.clementhorton@gmail.com and you will receive a new certificate. To download a CPD record form, please visit the Zenways members’ site (resources section).

You will need to complete 10 CPD units per year. 1 unit = 1 hour of study with a relevant live teacher (Master’s degree or equivalent and a relevant subject), or 5 hours of self-study. At least 1/3 of your units must be obtained by training with a live teacher.
