Yoga Teacher Training: Prerequisites and Qualification

What prerequisites/skills/training/experience do I need?

You’ll need at least two years of regular yoga class experience (or equivalent) before doing our yoga teacher training. “Equivalent” may include other movement forms or other practices that are based in a similar philosophy.

When you make your application we will ask you to let us have an idea of your experience of yoga and related disciplines and your state of health and we’ll take it from there.

How to qualify

To qualify as a Zenways yoga teacher, you’ll need to complete the following aspects. These include attendance of the course itself and completion of the coursework to be done after the end of the course.

  • Attend the whole of the course
  • Present satisfactory coursework whilst on the course
  • Following the end of the course, submit satisfactory essays with the following titles: “Anatomy and physiology: a yoga teacher’s guide” and “The role of a yoga teacher”
  • Following the end of the course, teach five one-hour classes and submit lesson plans and reflections on your teaching

Then you will receive your full teacher’s certificate and can become a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance and with the IYN. Once registered with the IYN you are automatically eligible for REPS level 3 registration.

If you’d like to speak to a recently qualified student or to one of our teachers, email us and we’ll put you in touch.
