In Zen, an enso (circle) is used to symbolizes enlightenment, elegance, emptiness or mu. It is characterised by a minimalism born of Japanese aesthetics. This particular enso was brushed by our Zen master’s teacher Shinzan Roshi and hangs at the front of our training hall, Yugagyo Dojo, in Camberwell, London.
