If you’re interested in writing and Zen you’re invited to the Write Practice inaugural event and celebration in Margate, Thursday 4th November. On this day-retreat we’ll be meditating, reading and writing together – exploring writing as a Zen way.

Probably the greatest poem of the twentieth century is ‘The Waste Land’ by T.S. Eliot with its powerfully depiction of spiritual and physical fragmentation, collapse and finally resolution. Eliot worked on the poem in Margate while recuperating from a nervous breakdown. We’ll be meeting and practicing in the exact place Eliot worked. One hundred years ago he wrote:

On Margate Sands.
I can connect
Nothing with nothing.

The work processes will be drawn from the upcoming “Write Practice” course written by Livi and Daizan. Please note, Livi Michael will be contributing remotely.

Suitable for beginners, you don’t need to be working on a project/book.

All you need is a notebook and writing materials. No need for a laptop or tablet.
We’ll meet at the cafe at the Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate at 10am and spend some of the day outdoors, so please wrap up warm. We’ll finish around 4pm. You can bring sandwiches for lunch or get something locally. Book using the following link.
