Our sangha (practice community) is something that we create together day by day. One of the signs of Zen practice maturing and developing is an imperative to meaningful action in the world.
W e depend on the assistance of committed volunteers to help run many of our day-to-day operations and other functions — everything from one-time assistance with a special event to retreat centre management, fundraising, graphic design, gardening, and transcribing teachings. Volunteering is a way to manifest the fruits of your meditation practice and connect with other sangha members. Both volunteers who are “on the spot” and in remote locations are warmly welcomed.
A traditional Zen name for volunteering work is “creating happiness”. If your volunteering is appropriate and skilful it will create happiness both for you and for others.
